Review
This John Gower is not the poet, but a little-known 17th-century schoolmaster of Latin and Greek who "graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in 1632 and an MA in 1636 . . . . " In 1635 "he published a comic poem entitled 'Pyrgomachia,' or the Cowrageious Castle Combat'" (255) and in 1640, under the title "Roman Festivalls," his translation of Ovid's "Fasti." [RFY.
